It depends on the kind of slab. Stone almost always requires it. The one exception, however, might be quartz countertops. In counters, quartz is usually engineered (often referred to as quartzite).

A quartzite countertop contains a small amount, less than 10%, of resin. Yet, they still have all the natural beauty and unique veining patterns.

Mother Nature, however, gets a little boost to make them more aligned with modern convenience. These counters are non-porous, making them hygienic, easy to clean–and available with more design options.

Porcelain and concrete slab countertops may or may not require sealing. It depends, however, on the type of installation and any grout lines.

Single slabs of stone

Stone comes in two forms for kitchen countertops. One is the single slab, such as marble or travertine, which is fabricated to your specifications.

The other is natural stone tile. You'll sometimes see granite or travertine tiles on counters.

Natural stone benefits

It's often said that while the cabinets are the kitchen star, the counters are a strong supporting player. When coordinated well with other design elements, counters often become the focal point of that room.

The right countertop can change the room from okay to "wow!" It doesn't matter if you're renovating an existing one or building from scratch. With stone slab countertops, you'll be assured of the following:

1.Beauty: They provide an atmosphere of luxury and opulence. These are also classic, timeless, and always stay in style.
Best of all, many, like marble, have distinct veining patterns. So, you'll never see your counters in anyone else's home!

2.Durability: They withstand heat, scratches, and stains.

3.Low maintenance. Especially when sealed, they become non-porous, making them sanitary and easy to clean.
